SAD SAFARI
Halfmarathon started here 21 years ago and it has grown
to one of the most popular top races in the country. There
is surely no more fitting way to commemorate this than to
place another big event on the calendar for our athletes!
The race promises to be unique and our national asset, Bainskloof
Pass, now 155 years old, will ensure that no one will be
disappointed!
Bainskloof is part of the Limietberg Nature Reserve, which
in turn is part of the Boland Mountain Complex which is
one of the eight areas of the “Cape Floral Region Protected
Areas, World Heritage Site” that was inscribed on the world
list by UNESCO at the 29th session of the World Heritage
Committee in Suzhou, China in July 2004.
Een en twintig jaar gelede is die SAD SAFARI Halfmarathon
begin en dit het tot een van die gewildste top wedlope in
die land gegroei. Daar is seker nie ‘n meer gepaste manier
om dit te herdenk as om nog ’n groot geleentheid vir ons
atlete op die kalender te plaas nie! Die wedloop beloof
om uniek te wees en ons nasionale bate, Bainskloofpas, wat
nou 155 jaar oud is, sal verseker dat niemand teleurgestel
word nie!
Bainskloof is geleë in die Lemietberg Natuurreservaat, wat
op sy beurt weer deel vorm van die Boland Bergreeks wat
deel is van een van die “Beskermde Kaapse Plantstreek, Wêreld
Erfenis Gebied” wat glys is deur UNESCO by die 29ste sitting
van die Wêreld Erfenis Komitee in Suzou, China gedurende
Julie 2004.
